Review - KFC's Chicken Rockin' Burger

After KFC's Mango Burst review, it's time to tell you about the Chicken Rockin' Burger! Yay Burger!!!

So, this was the second burger at KFC I recently tried after Chicken Zinger. The description mentions that the Chicken Rockin' comprises of crispy chicken fillet, 3-pepper mayonnaise and iceberg lettuce packed between soft buns.

Review - Strawberry Créme Flavored Oreo Chocolatey Sandwich Biscuits

Oreo Strawberry Créme is the third addition to the Oreo cookie range in India, i.e., it was launched prior to Oreo Orange Créme. You can find its review here -> Review - Orange Créme Flavored Oreo Chocolatey Sandwich Biscuits. So, after much procrastination I finally tried out Oreo Strawberry Créme for the first time. Surprisingly, it turned out better than its Orange cousin.

Shopping at Flipkart.com- My experience and a Product Review (Enroute Women)

Hello buddies. Here I am again with a new product review. I have been looking for newer things to put up on my blog. So, I decided to do a review of Enroute Women Bellies. For those who have been following me for quite a while now would be aware that I was smitten by the ideas of donning ballerinas AKA bellies last year. For those who are new, you might want to take a look at these cute red suede ballerinas I got last year. I wore them all the time. They spiced up my boring grey and white college uniform!

Before that I used to wear kitten heals, sports shoes and formal shoes on different occasions. I did wore bellies of different styles as a kid, but that was like 15 years ago. I usually do not like to flaunt my feet in open toe sandals or peep toes. Indian streets, they make your feet dirty!

I have predominantly broad feet. Not even the baby doll pink nail color can cover up the fact that I have got my Dad's feet! But last year when I tried on my very first pair of bellies in such a long time, I was amazed how comfortable they were. They didn't squish my feet at all. They kind of adjusted to my foot's shape in a week.

My Experience with Flipkart

So this year, I bought another pair of bellies from Flipkart.com. I usually don't shop a lot for shoes online. This is my fourth online purchase in the last couple of years and the 1st time from Flipkart. They had good offers going on for a couple of months now. The women's footwear collection is pretty good. But it was really hard to find the right size in my favorite styles. Moreover, the offers kept changing every few hours several times a day. It was frustrating to see the final price in the cart go up and down by several hundred rupees. So, I decided to scratch everything else from the cart and bought only one pair for the time being. I had picked 6 pairs of beautiful wedges and bellies from a collection of thousands of items. All the efforts went down the drain.

Let the shoe-testing frenzy begin!

Today my package arrived in the afternoon. I had placed the order on 23rd May. The package was expected to arrive on 28th May. But it came really quick.

The package consisted of a small carton as you can see in the picture. It contained the shoe box.

The shoes were supposed to be wrapped in that paper. But the paper was torn into several pieces. I wonder if someone had already ordered these shoes and then returned them, causing such a wear and tear. So I thoroughly inspected the shoes. Hopefully, they turned out fine.

There was a small white bag with the brand's name on it. The packing was nice enough and the product came undamaged.

The bellies looked exactly the same as depicted in the images on the website, here. So, overall it was not an excellent but above average experience with Flipkart.

Product Review

Now lets talk about the product. The brand is Enroute. It is one of my favorite footwear brands. I could buy this online because I was sure about the quality of Enroute products. I got a whopping 50% discount on the original price of INR 1099.

The inner side of the bellies have a fabric lining. The outer structure is made up of fabric that feels like denim. The belt on the front and the patch on the back are crafted from genuine leather. It does carry a typical smell of genuine leather, which is very reassuring. Weight of a single piece is around 166 grams. The sole however lacks any ridges or texture, which are necessary for a better grip while walking on smooth surfaces. There is a scope for improvement on this front.

The size chart on the site was a bit misleading. Usually I need Euro 38 which is 24.0 - 24.6 cm. However, for Enroute Euro 38 is 25.2 cm. The shoes are not so snug, but still wearable.

It is comfortable to wear and walk into. It doesn't bite or pinch the feet. Neither it squeezes my toes, considering how broad my feet are. Initially I thought they will team up well only with western casual outfits. But I tried pairing them with kurti-churidaar later while going out and boy, it looked really chic!

My little sister has pretty and narrow feet. The bellies looked cute on her feet too. Here, take a look at her doll feet.

Product rating - 4 out of 5
Rating for Flipkart - 3 out of 5

These bellies are not flashy. They are very simple yet elegant and sober. So, I am quite happy for what I got for half the price. I am planning to buy more shoes. I got my eyes on some really cute Inc. 5 and Pavers England flats.

Hope you had fun reading today's review. Will come back with more of such stuff to talk about. Till then, ciao!

McDonald's New Grilled Chicken Royale Burger - Review

Hello buddies. Hope you are doing great. Lately, I have been really irregular with the blogging because of studies and workload. So, today I got some time off and here I am! I have been thinking to quit blogging altogether since I am unable to do justice to my blogs. The thought has hit my mind several times, and I just keep bouncing back to this place after several weeks. I guess you are not going to get rid of me any sooner :p

Okay, so today I am writing a review on McDonald's Grilled Chicken Royale Burger that was launched in my city on 27th March, 2014. Given all the hype about the burger, I definitely wanted to try it ASAP. You see, I am a frequent visitor to McDonald's. There are several reasons for that. Firstly, I love burgers and there is no other place in my town that serves decent burgers. McDonald's is just across the street from my college, and so are Pizza Hut, KFC and Domino's. But it's not just about food. It's about the way I link to McD. The atmosphere is lively and jazzy. I have spent some of the happiest moments of my life at McD and so I feel connected to the place.

McD's menu has always been very limited, especially the burgers. However, in last couple of years it did introduce the spicy range of burgers and wraps, one vegetarian and one non-vegetarian of each. I had tried out their McSpicy Paneer burger. But I wasn't quite impressed. Since I was following vegetarianism way back in 2011, I didn't try the McSpicy Chicken then. However, I resumed the non-vegetarian diet in 2012, but I forgot to try out the McSpicy Chicken burger. I know it sounds funny.

Last year, in May came up the new Chicken Masala Grill Burger. But again, nothing extraordinary about it. The spicy sauce was a new addition while the chicken patty was the same old one they use in all other chicken burgers. I have sensitive taste buds, and if something were significantly new about it, I could tell.

Since then, I was waiting for something exciting to come up on McDonald's menu. And last month I thought it was time! I entered the McD to order something from the usual stuff but then a huge ad placed near the entrance caught my eye. It featured an insanely delicious looking burger, where all the ingredients were perfectly stacked in layers one upon the another. It said, there were two chicken patties, two chicken cold cuts, lots of salad leaves, a couple of fresh tomato slices, topped with mayo and packed between two cornmeal dusted buns. So, I just went for it.

I wish I could take pictures, but I was unaware of the ways of my mind and that it would abruptly feel like putting up a review here. Hence, no picture. But I did manage to get one from the McDonald India's site for you to look at. Nevertheless, don't let the good looks deceive you. The burger was nothing like what it looks in the picture. The patties weren't so chunky. They were pretty thin. Almost as thin as you what you get in Chicken Maharaja Mac. The chicken cold cuts were a brilliant addition though. I had never had cold cuts before, so I kind of liked it. It did have a smokey flavor and tasted good enough. There were indeed lots of salad leaves, a couple of tomato slices and an ungenerous dash of plain white mayo.

The first bite I took did give me a momentary nirvana. The hot patty and cold cuts lent an amazing combo of texture and taste due to the extreme temperature variation. The hot and cold chicken did feel good for a while. The cornmeal dusted buns were nice and fluffy. But you do need other things on a burger to make it a good one, which Chiken Royale clearly lacked. There was no cheese slice and the plain mayo could do nothing to amplify the taste. Again, I was kind of let down. Because it was a whopping INR 135 (Taxes extra) that I just spent on a below-average burger. I finished my meal halfheartedly and the burger didn't even leave a sour taste in my mouth. Pun intended!

Later on I went to at the counter just to inquire if they replace they plain mayo with some spicier sauce. They said they do, and they charge INR 16 just to replace the sauce. I mean why charge extra? We want the sauce "replaced" and not an extra sauce added. So, that seemed unjustified to me.

Here is the verdict!

The Good
  • The fluffy cornmeal dusted buns. I think they are better than the regular sesame buns.
  • The chicken cold cuts lent a good texture and slight (very slight) smokiness.
  • The salad leaves gave a nice crunch to the burger.
The Bad
  • Chicken patties were too thin. Nothing like what the pic says. I mean really thin.
  • The chicken patty has no new flavors. It's just the ones you get in McD's other chicken burgers which are less pricey.
  • Plain mayo does no good.
  • Lacks cheese.
  • Costs a fortune.

Rating - 2 out of 5

For me, Chicken Maharaja Mac still wins. I would rate it 3 out of 5. It has the same old chicken patty but there is a third slice of bread, a tangy tartar sauce and a cheese slice to make up for the drabness. And it comes at INR 99 (Taxes extra).

That's all for today. Hope to see you guys again! Till then, I am signing off! Have a great week ahead.

Product Review- Sunsilk Co-Creations Perfect Straight Range

Hello blogger buddies! How are you doing?? Great?? Good!!!

Today, I am writing a review on the Sunsilk Co-Creations Perfect Straight Shampoo and Conditioner. Actually, these products were launched way back, may be earlier this year as far as I can remember. But what the hey?!! I am still writing a review to share my experience with you guys.

I happen to love my tresses a little too much. I have naturally straight and silky hair, but they just don't stay put. They have got to fly helter-skelter, making me look like a mess. That's one reason I never let my hair out of the pony-tail while going to college. I have never used any straightening equipment till date. I was skeptical about using a straightening shampoo, fearing damage to my hair. But curiosity got the better of me. :D

So, I finally grabbed a bottle of Sunsilk Perfect Straight Shampoo off the rack at the supermarket yesterday. I bought the smallest bottle available and along came a free unit of Perfect Straight Conditioner. I wanted to see what kind of effect this shampoo would have on my already-straight hair. I was expecting the shampoo to help me pin my hair straight. Let us see what it did to my hair! But, before that let us take a look at the product specifications.

About the Sunsilk Perfect Straight Range

The Perfect Straight Shampoo

The Sunsilk Co-Creations Perfect Straight Range is created by Yuko Yamashita. The Shampoo came in an attractive purple bottle with a flip cap. It is meant for daily use, so it is comparatively mild than the other Sunsilk Shampoos. I needed around 12 ml of shampoo, since this one lathered a bit less. The fragrance is extremely pleasant and refreshing. The consistency is like any other shampoo.

Price- 56 INR
Quantity- 80 ml

The Perfect Straight

The Conditioner came in a attractive purple tube. It smelled equally sweet. But again, too mild. I ended up using 10 ml of conditioner, which is way more than what should be used on medium length hair. Consistency and color looked like any other conditioner.

Price- 20 INR (This one came free with the Shampoo)
Quantity- 20 ml

The verdict

I did not tell anyone at home that I have used a new product. I waited for them to notice the change, if any. And my Dad and Sis did notice it! They said my hair look better in terms of staying pinned and neat. The instructions on the bottle say that the hair must be completely aligned as they dry. My hair definitely didn't become straighter, but the shampoo helped me make them stay in place. It also eased the little traces of frizzes.

This shampoo worked more like a hair-spray. It made my hair stay put for longer, which also made them a tad bit dry to touch. I suggest you massage your hair with hair-oil at least 1 hour prior shampooing. I didn't do it this time, so that might be the reason behind the slight dryness of hair.

And the below pic was clicked earlier today. My tresses remained under total control.

The Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Smells awesome! Believe me, I have been sniffing my hair every now and then since yesterday
  • Beautiful packaging
  • Helps remove frizzes effectively
  • Makes hair shinier
  • High on quality

The Cons:

  • Very mild. You may need to use more quantity of shampoo and conditioner than usual
  • Made my hair a little dry. Conditioner didn't seem to help much on maintaining the texture. May be a massage would help next time

Rating: 4 out of 5

In a nutshell, girls with thick and curly hair really won't benefit much from this product. The ones with unruly wavy tresses may find some relief. And the rest like me, your straight hair would become more manageable. Overall, an excellent and value for money product. Totally met my expectations!

Shopping at Zovi.com- My experience

Hello dear buddies. I've shopped online a lot online in the past couple of years, right from electronics and kitchen appliances to apparels and accessories. So far the experience has been amazing. But I'm writing about it for the very first time.

I am very enthusiastic about online shopping because of the range of products the online shopping stores have to offer that too at the best prices. Most of the products are not available here in my city. But online stores have taken my craze for shopping to an all new level. Not to forget the convenience offered by 'cash on delivery' option. Like any other woman I too love to shop. I avoid mindless and impulsive shopping because such habits can ruining in the long run. So I'd put a lease on mindless shopping from a very early age. Today I'm going to write about my first shopping experience at Zovi.com. This is not a review or appraisal. It's just me sharing my honest opinion with the readers.

There was a sale on Zovi.com last month and the discount rates went up day by day. I always wanted to try suede ballerinas but was not willing to spend a lot because I was skeptical if ballerinas would be good for my broad feet. I have been a fan of loafers since a long time. I got these gorgeous pairs of velvety loafers. So I also wanted to try leather loafers.

I ordered a pair of cherry red suede ballerinas and a pair of white leather loafers in the last week of February at 70% off. I was expecting the delivery of my package in the second week of March. But I was glad to receive the same in the first week itself. I loved the red ballerinas a lot. They are adorable and look so good. They are also very comfortable.

However, I was disappointed with the quality and fitting of the loafers, in spite of ordering a right size. They were damaged too. Zovi's customer care service is fantastic. They resolved my problem in a matter of minutes and arranged for a free pick-up of the package and refunding the amount. It took a couple of days to get all these things done.

Suggestions for Zovi

1. The range of products (I'm talking about the women's footwear) is very limited as compared to competitors like Jabong and Yepme. Range must be increased so as to provide more options.

2. As far as the quality is concerned, it does not justify the price of the product. Thank God I bought it at a discount sale. So either the quality should be raised or the products should be reasonably priced.

My ratings

1. Range- 2 on 5
2. Quality of product- 3 on 5
3. Customer service- 5 on 5

Will I shop at Zovi again?

Yes, may be when they have a sale going on.

P.S.- Also look out for merchant account providers for online businesses and
